Fastest route to breed Anubis in Palworld
Anubis is one of the most-searched Pals on this site. This guide gives the cheapest verified route to breed it, what to catch first, and the mistakes that waste your time.

Why breed Anubis
Anubis is popular for two reasons. At a base it is one of the best handiwork workers in the game, and in a fight it is a strong ground-type attacker. It does spawn in the wild, but only at level 55, which puts catching it deep into the late game. Breeding gets you Anubis much earlier, because its parents are all catchable or breedable at far lower levels. The Anubis page lists more than 230 parent pairs; this guide narrows that list to the cheapest practical route.
The three direct pairs
Three pairs stand out because their parents spawn at the lowest wild levels: Blazamut + Dualith, Suzaku Aqua + Lyleen Noct, and Whalaska + Lyleen Noct. All three are verified for version 1.0, and none of them needs a specific gender — either parent can be male or female.
Cheapest route: breed Whalaska first
The cheapest route runs through Whalaska. First, breed Whalaska from Moldron + Warsect Terra. Both of those spawn in the wild around level 30, which is far earlier than Anubis itself. Next, catch a Lyleen Noct, which spawns in the wild at level 49. Finally, breed Whalaska + Lyleen Noct, and the egg is Anubis. Every step uses parents below level 55, so this route beats catching Anubis in the wild by a wide margin.
Alternative route: Blazamut and Dualith
If you already have the pieces, the Blazamut + Dualith route is just as direct. Both spawn in the wild at level 46, so catching them outright is a fair option. If you prefer to breed them, breed Blazamut from Reptyro Cryst + Lyleen Noct, then breed Dualith from Wumpo Botan + Blazamut. Once you have both, Blazamut + Dualith gives Anubis. This route takes more steps than the Whalaska route, but it reuses the same Lyleen Noct, so it pairs well with it.
The route to skip (unless you already own them)
The Suzaku Aqua route looks tempting on paper but is the slowest in practice. Suzaku Aqua only comes from a special combination — Jormuntide + Suzaku — and Jormuntide itself spawns at level 55. If you already own both, go ahead and use it. If you do not, the Whalaska route gets you Anubis sooner.
Mistakes that waste cakes
The most common mistake is trusting breeding pairs from guides written before version 1.0. Breeding values changed across the whole Paldeck, and old Anubis pairs often no longer work. The second mistake is breeding two random strong Pals and expecting Anubis: the game averages the parents' breeding power, and the average has to land on Anubis at 480. Strong parents average to something else entirely. The third mistake is forgetting the cake — no cake in the farm's chest means no egg at all. And do not stop at one egg: extra hatches give you both genders for future breeding and a chance at better passives, which our passive skills guide covers in depth.
After your first Anubis
Once you own a male and a female Anubis, same-species pairs give you more Anubis whenever you want them. That is the point to start improving the line: breed for the passives your base or your team needs, and keep the best child as the parent for the next round.
What if you already own one of the parents?
If you already own one parent, the route gets shorter. Own a Lyleen Noct? Then both the Whalaska route and the Blazamut route are open, and you only need to breed or catch the other half. Own a Blazamut? Then Dualith is one breed away through Wumpo Botan + Blazamut, and Anubis follows right after. Own a Whalaska already? Then you only need the Lyleen Noct. Before committing cakes, open the calculator's route planner, enter the Pals you actually own, and set Anubis as the target. It will show the shortest chain from your own collection, which is often shorter than any fixed guide route.

Common questions
What is the easiest Anubis pair?
Whalaska + Lyleen Noct is the cheapest practical pair. Breed Whalaska from Moldron + Warsect Terra, catch a Lyleen Noct at level 49, and breed them for Anubis.
Can I breed Anubis early?
Earlier than catching it, yes. Anubis spawns wild at level 55, but the Whalaska route uses parents from the level 30s and 40s, so it is reachable much sooner.
Do I need a specific gender for Anubis pairs?
No, not for the three main pairs. Blazamut + Dualith, Suzaku Aqua + Lyleen Noct, and Whalaska + Lyleen Noct all work with either parent as male or female.
Why did my pair give a different Pal?
Check your game version first: this site's data matches Palworld v1.0.x as checked on 29 October 2026, and older guides show pairs that no longer work. Also remember the game averages the parents' breeding power, so two strong parents do not automatically give Anubis.
Is catching Anubis faster than breeding?
Usually not. Catching needs the level 55 area, while the Whalaska breeding route uses parents from much lower levels and is reachable sooner.
